OUR FARM

Our Farm

Our history in Yolo County, California began in the early 1850’s when Abraham Barnes settled here and began farming. He soon sent for his family, including daughter Grace, who migrated here from Kentucky. During this time, Grace met up with 32 year old Joseph Helm Harlan, a Virginia native migrating to California, who was driving an ox team and supply of cattle to Yolo County. Joseph and Grace eventually married and purchased the Barnes homestead, living and farming there for the rest of their lives.

Six generations later, the Harlan Ranch continues to be a family owned and operated. The ranch has varied its agricultural production according to the times, ranging from livestock to grains, forages and vegetables. We have adapted to many changes in crops and technology and have remained committed stewards of the land.
